Investors planning to become buy-to-let landlords in the student sector have been advised to consider a number of factors before purchasing a property.

Peter Mindenhall, researcher at IPINGlobal.com, claimed it is worthwhile thinking about what university attendees perceive as "quality and value for money" when searching for a rental house. "Students want to be close to campus and have high-speed internet access, while campus security and transport links are also more important than they used to be" the expert stated. It was suggested investing in a property that can help ensure individuals have these expectations met will help landlords to see their abode in high demand.

Mr Mindenhall recommended focusing on a "specific need and demand level" in order to successfully find a property that matches a personal investment agenda.
